Loyal Friend to the Library

Buddy arrived to volunteer at the Woods Branch every Monday evening during the school year. Greeted by partner, Emma, Buddy would show patience on that elevator ride down to the Program Room. You see, Buddy was a Reader Dog, a certified therapy dog who loved being part of the Library's Reader Dog Program and listening to children read. A special volunteer, a gentle friend and the library's earnest volunteer, Buddy was diagnosed with a malignant tumor that just got too big too fast and couldn't eat. Buddy died on Saturday, July 23rd. He spent a beautiful sunny afternoon with us during the Drop-in Program in June (pictured above with handler, Ginny) and will always be remembered as our gentle friend. We'll miss you, Buddy.
