E-Books @ the Library
Do you have a new E-Reader at your house? It can be a little tricky to download a library e-book the first time. This help is a good place to start. Or this help. Or come to an E-Reader Open House on January 17 at Woods, or February 1 at the Central Library. Or just stop by the library and we can walk you through it.You will soon find that we don't own all the bestsellers in e-book form, and the ones we do own frequently have a waiting list. Library agreements with publishers are evolving in this new field. Some publishers don't offer their most popular titles to libraries, and some don't offer any titles at all. And publishers want libraries to handle e-books in the same way as print books, so only one person can have an e-book "checked out" at a time.
So place your holds for bestselling titles, and then peruse the selection. There are many older titles that are available and great to read while you wait! A good way to search is to use the advanced search option, limit to your format and check the box "only show titles with copies available."
